On 24 June 2026, a study visit entitled “Żuławy Gdańskie – an ideal place for wellbeing tourism” was organised as part of the N-B-Well project. The event was attended by 13 representatives of SMEs and 4 stakeholders from Poland - Pomerania region.

The visit focused on the potential of Żuławy Gdańskie for the development of nature-based wellbeing tourism. The region combines open landscapes, rivers, canals, cultural heritage, rural traditions and a calm rhythm of life. These elements create favourable conditions for rest, regeneration and conscious contact with nature.

Żuławy Gdańskie is a unique area shaped by centuries of cooperation between people and water. Its flat lowlands, wide horizons, flood embankments, canals and drainage systems form a distinctive landscape. The region is also rich in cultural heritage, including arcaded houses, historic windmills, traditional villages, churches and Gothic ruins.

During the visit, participants explored examples of places and services that can become part of a local wellbeing tourism offer. One of the discussed elements was the role of small horse stables. Contact with horses, outdoor movement and a quiet rural setting can support relaxation, reduce stress and strengthen emotional balance. Such places can offer horse riding, walks with horses, nature activities and educational stays for families.

Another example was a beekeeping farm in Długie Pole, run by Marta and Wojciech Brzyszcz. The farm combines traditional beekeeping, environmental education and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. Visitors can learn about bees, pollinators and local honey production. The apiary environment may also support relaxation through silence, nature and the calming sound of bees.

An important stop was the Educational Farm “U Młynarza” in Mokry Dwór. The site combines rural heritage, education and wellbeing. Its key attraction is a historic paltrak windmill from 1903, restored by the owner, Wiesław Zbroiński. Visitors can also take part in bread-baking workshops, learn about old crafts and experience traditional rural life.

The study visit showed that Żuławy Gdańskie has strong potential for wellbeing tourism. The region does not need large-scale spa infrastructure. Its value lies in calm landscapes, local identity, small-scale experiences, educational farms and cooperation between local stakeholders. For the N-B-Well project, Żuławy Gdańskie can serve as an example of how nature, heritage and community engagement can support sustainable tourism and local development.
